Op-Ed: Tragedy + Poverty = Calamity
Every day at Mystis, we see the same equation play out: tragedy plus poverty equals calamity. A father’s death leaves children adrift. A mother fleeing violence faces the highest risk after leaving. Families collapse when the one anchor holding them together is suddenly gone. Guns won’t disappear, mental illness won’t vanish, but care—housing, counseling, crisis support—is the infrastructure that gives families a fighting chance.
